How does Bactroban (Mupirocin) work?
Mupirocin is an antibacterial medicine that is used topically (on the skin).
It interferes with a bacterial enzyme and this prevents the production of proteins and genetic material that bacteria need to multiply. This inhibits the ability of the bacteria to grow.
The numbers of bacteria are reduced and the skin in the affected area can heal more easily.
