NEOTIGASON (Acitretin)
NEOTIGASON is used to treat severe psoriasis (skin disease with thickened patches of red skin, often with silvery scales) and other severe disorders of the skin.
NEOTIGASON is belong to a drug class Retinoid-like compound (vitamin A derivative). It is important for the normal growth and development of the body, especially the skin. In severe psoriasis and some other skin disorders NEOTIGASON helps return the skin to normal.
POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS
- Itching (pruritus)
- Thinning of the skin
- Hair thinning
- peeling of the skin on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet (palmar and plantar exfoliation)
- Raised levels of triglycerides in the blood (hypertriglyceridaemia)
- Dryness of the mucous membranes, eg lips, eyes, nose (causing nosebleeds) and throat (causing hoarseness)
- Headache
- Nausea
- Abnormal reaction of the skin to light, usually a rash (photosensitivity)
- Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
FOOD INTERACTIONS
Do not drink alcohol during therapy
PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING CAUTIONS
FDA Pregnancy Risk Category X. Excreted in the breast milk. Do not breast-feed during therapy.
