1. What Sandrena does
Sandrena is an oestrogen-only product and is one
of a group of medicines called hormone
replacement therapy (HRT). It’s used for
problems that start affecting women when their
body produces less of the female hormone
oestrogen (for example at their change of life or
menopause).
At the time of the menopause (or after an operation to remove the ovaries) a woman’s body produces less of the female hormone, oestrogen. Too little oestrogen may cause a range of problems such as hot flushes and night sweats. The shortage of oestrogens may cause the vaginal wall to become thin and dry and as a result, sexual intercourse may become painful.
Too little oestrogen may also cause problems such as urinary incontinence and cystitis. These complaints can often be helped by using medicines containing oestrogen. It may take several days or even weeks before you notice an improvement.
2. Possible side effects
Some women using Sandrena get side effects. These side effects generally occur with all
medicines that contain oestrogens.
