How does Progesterone work?
This preparation contains the female sex hormone progesterone in the form of
a vaginal gel.
Progesterone is one of the two female sex hormones produced by the ovaries
from puberty until after the menopause. It is also produced by the placenta
during pregnancy. Progesterone acts on the lining of the uterus (womb) and
prepares it for implantation of the fertilised egg. It is also important for the
maintenance of pregnancy.
A fall in the levels of progesterone occurs naturally after the menopause,
often causing a number of distressing symptoms.
This preparation relieves disorders associated with progesterone deficiency
such as, premenstrual syndrome, menstrual irregularities, menopausal disorders
